Positron (positive electron)

The positive electron or positron is the antiparticle of the electron. Its mass and its behaviour while passing through matter are the same. As its name suggests, the positron carries an electrical positive charge +e which is elementary and opposite to the –e charge of the electron. Radioactive β+ (bêta-plus), nuclei, that have an excess of protons, expel positrons. Particle of antimatter, a beta positron newly emitted meets a multitude of electrons. It disappears rapidly after annihilating with an electron to produce two photons.
