Neutrons are, with protons, the constituents of the atomic nucleus. Neutron is the proton partner. It is unstable outside the nucleus. Without electric charge, the neutron is sensitive only to nuclear forces. Electrically neutral and therefore insensitive to electrical charges, neutral areeasily captured by nuclei, where they may trigger nuclear reactions.
